General Production

The main objective of seedbed preparation in small grains is to produce a firm, debrisfree, weed-free seedbed for rapid germination and emergence. Good contact between the seed and the soil is necessary for quick imbibition and germination. Seedbed preparation varies among regions according to crop rotation, soil type, need for soil and moisture conservation, residue management, and growers’ approach to tillage.
